Home Theater Audio Systems - The Do's and Don'ts

!±8± Home Theater Audio Systems - The Do's and Don'ts

The speaker setup in a home theater audio system is crucial to an entertainment center's performance in your household. A lot of experts agree that the ideal speaker setup should try to avoid ceiling installation for the primary three front speakers. Additionally, these speakers should be angled with a proper mounting bracket, if they have to be set up above ear level.

You should also avoid buying cubed speakers which may cost lesser but are less than ideal as part a home theater audio system. These little black or white cubes are also less likely to be compatible with your entertainment room's aesthetics, and you can easily find speakers that integrate better with interiors.

If you already have cubed speakers, you still can make the most of these home theater audio system components. First, ensure that these speakers are connected to their corresponding bass module connections. Then, check if each speaker level connection from the bass module is linked to the corresponding receiver connection (i.e. left rear to left rear; center channel to center channel). Also, have an RCA cable from the sub out of the receiver be connected to the sub in of the bass module.

After this, you will have to set in the receiver's bass management all of the speakers to "Large" and the subwoofer to "Yes". With these steps, an appreciable performance could be derived from your cubed speakers, but consultation with your dealer or the speaker manufacturer may still be needed when these procedures fail or you are in doubt of any of the connections made.

Energy Take Classic 5.1 - One of the Best Budget Home Theater Speaker Systems

!±8± Energy Take Classic 5.1 - One of the Best Budget Home Theater Speaker Systems

The high performance Take Classic 5.1 builds off of the success of their previous system the Take 5. The take 5 was regarded by Stereo Review as "the best-sounding home theater system under ,000." Their newest version now called the Take Classic 5.1 is also being recognized as one of the best sounding budget speakers you can buy.

What's Included

The system includes five compact speakers and one subwoofer. Two speakers are designed for the front, two for the rear and one for your center channel. They have a high-gloss finish which gives them a very high-tech look.

Room Filling Sound

Even though they're small you'll notice they are very capable of filling a room with incredible sound. They can be played at high volumes without any sign of strain. The 200-watt subwoofer will also keep up and will provide deep sounding bass that blends very well with the other satellite speakers. Similar speaker systems in this price range might be good for filling a bedroom with sound but they will often show signs of strain when trying to keep up with movies that have lots of action and deep bass. This Energy system will keep up and you won't really notice how small they are in size once you hear them.

Quality Materials

Energy doesn't skimp on quality when building their speakers. They use a poly-titanium woofer and hyperbolic aluminum-dome tweeters. These are at the heart of all Energy speakers including their upper end speakers as well. Using high quality materials is what gives these speakers a more focused sound, clearer dialogue and music that stirs you.

The Listening Experience

When it all comes down to it though, the listening experience is what really counts. The first thing you'll notice is how good they sound when compared to other speaker systems in a similar price range. If you have the chance, it's ideal to be able to sit in a room that allows you to switch between different speaker systems while a movie is playing.

What you'll notice is that a lot of the speakers in this price range sound ok, but when you switch to hearing the Energy Take Classic 5.1 you'll notice a significant improvement. It's not just that they sound better but the overall experience is better. When you're watching a movie things like crisp, clear dialogue is important. But you also want that feeling like you're in the movie. That's where speakers that create impressive sound stages really stand apart and that's what you'll notice about the Take Classic 5.1 system. You'll feel more engrossed in the movie or music listening experience.

How Do They Compare Price Wise?

The price point of this speaker system is what really makes them stand out. You should be able to purchase them just about anywhere for under 0. What's so impressive though is that they actually sound as good or better than other systems costing as much as 00. In other words, even if you spent 00 on these speakers you would still be paying a fair price. You can actually purchase them online for less than half of that which makes the Energy Take Classic 5.1 Speaker System an absolute bargain!
